another transition

We never really minded being referred to colloquially as "Cuff Publications," because it was a family business and there were so many Cuffs involved. But the actual name of the firm was Harry Cuff Publications, because the firm's founder was Harry Cuff.

Dr Cuff, in turn a teacher, university professor, educational administrator, and editor, was editor-in-chief of the Newfoundland Quarterly starting in 1966, and was the publisher of the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador. He was one of the many who ensured that the history and literature of Newfoundland and Labrador were accorded their rightful place in the heritage of Canada.

In 1995, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada for those efforts.
